The route
Dave loads in the UK and makes for the M25, then the M20 or M2 to Dover for the ferry to Calais, or Folkestone for the Eurotunnel shuttle. On the French side the autoroute network fans out fast: the A1 and A16 for Paris and the north, the A13 for Normandy, the A10 down the Atlantic side towards Bordeaux and the Dordogne, and the A6–A7 "Autoroute du Soleil" for Lyon, Provence and the Mediterranean. Northern moves are quick; the deep south is a proper haul, planned accordingly.
Customs & paperwork after Brexit
A move to France now needs a customs declaration and a full inventory of what you are bringing. If you are transferring your main residence, used household goods you have owned for a while can usually come in under transfer-of-residence relief, provided the paperwork is right.
